The Haryana government on April 9 once again released Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda chief and writer-producer-director-actor Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh on 21 days’ furlough. He has been convicted of rape and murder. He will return to jail on April 30.
With this, he would be out of jail for 51 days in the 120 days from January 1 to April 30, 2025. Since January 20, 2024, he has been released by the state’s BJP government for 142 days. This is the fifth time since January 2024 that he has been able to get parole/furlough, and for the 13th time for a total period of 326 days ever since he started getting parole/furlough from October 2020. In January this year, the state government had released him on 30 days’ parole.
As per bail conditions, Ram Rahim will be staying at his Sirsa ashram. He was released from Sunaria jail in Rohtak on April 9. He has been serving a sentence in the jail since August 2017.
