Rohit Shetty and Reliance Entertainment have joined hands to make a biopic on Bombay’s revered top cop and former Bombay commissioner of police Rakesh Maria. The biopic will be based on the experiences of Maria’s accomplished career and will be mentored by Rohit Shetty himself.
Maria’s journey spans all the way from the 1993 Bombay bomb blasts, and the underworld menace right to the 26/11 Bombay terror attacks of 2008. As deputy commissioner of police (traffic) in 1993, he cracked the Bombay serial blasts case. He later moved to DCP (Crime) and then Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) in Bombay. He solved the 2003 Gateway of India and Zaveri Bazaar twin blasts case. Maria was also given the responsibility of investigating the 26/11 terror attacks in Bombay in 2008 and interrogated Ajmal Kasab, the only terrorist captured alive, and successfully investigated the case.
