The Maharashtra state government has reportedly formed a Special Investigation Team to probe the death of Disha Salian, manager of Sushant Singh Rajput, in 2020. It is believed that the SIT would investigate the alleged role of Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray as well.
UBT Sena MLA Sunil Prabhu on December 7 said that the probe was motivated by political vendetta. Shiv Sena minister Shambhuraj Desai said that the matter was serious and those guilty would be booked. Sena (UBT) MLC Anil Parab said, “By holding such an inquiry, they (government) are trying to drag our party down, but it will not happen. Mumbai police have already investigated who was where when the incident took place. They have all the reports. The CBI was also asked to conduct the entire investigation.”
It is rumoured that a senior IPS officer would lead the SIT probe. The state government had announced in the winter session of the legislative assembly in Nagpur last year that it would form an SIT to probe Disha’s death.
Disha Salian died on June 8, 2020 after a fall from the 14th floor of a building at Malad in Bombay. A week later, Sushant Singh Rajput was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his bedroom.
