The Bombay police on October 17 received an anonymous message, purportedly from an associate of the underworld gangster Lawrence Bishnoi gang, demanding Rs. 5 crore “to end the feud” with Salman Khan. The message added that if Salman did not pay up, he would face the same fate as slain ex-minister Baba Siddique earlier this month. The threat was received by the traffic police in its WhatsApp helpline.
The police said that the most recent message was sent from a number issued in a North Indian state. An offence was registered at the Worli (Bombay) police station.
The Bishnoi gang has issued multiple threats to the actor and his family and was allegedly behind the firing at his house in April this year. In March 2023, Salman’s personal assistant received a warning mail on behalf of Bishnoi’s aide, Goldy Brar, which highlighted the gangster’s interview that was aired from jail and mentioned that his life’s goal was to kill Salman. In June 2022, the actor’s father, writer Salim Khan, had come across a threat letter which was kept on a bench at Bandra Bandstand in Bombay, where Salim Khan takes walks in the mornings.
