The house in London’s Hampstead, in which legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray had lived with wife Bijoya in 1950 when he was working with an advertising company, is being considered for the prestigious heritage blue plaque. English Heritage, a charity that manages over 400 historic monuments, buildings and places in the UK and awards the blue plaque, confirmed the news and added that the final decision would take around a year-and-a-half as there are many cases ahead of Ray’s house. The house is currently owned by Merilyn Fricker.
Ray had spent six months at this house in Hampstead in central London, during his on-site assignment. His son, Sandeep, and daughter-in-law, Lalita, provided the letter confirming that the celebrated filmmaker once lived in the Hampstead house.
