The Supreme Court on January 18 granted actress Poonam Pandey protection from arrest in a porn films racket case. A bench of Justices Vineet Saran and B.V. Nagarathna issued the Maharashtra government notice on an appeal filed by Poonam against a Bombay high court order dated November 25 last year, rejecting her anticipatory bail plea. While issuing the notice to the state government, the apex court said, “In the meanwhile, no coercive action shall be taken against the petitioner.”
Poonam has been arraigned as an accused in the FIR along with actress Sherlyn Chopra.
