‘SECOND CHANCE’ REVIEW | 13 June, 2025

Latent Pictures, Metanormal Motion Pictures, Bridge PostWorks and Moonweave Films’ Second Chance is the story of a young girl who has experienced a major trauma. How she comes out of it forms the crux of the story.

Nia (Dheera Johnson) has a terribly traumatic experience in her young life. She retreats to her family summer home in the Himalayas. Time, nature and unlikely friendships help her heal.

Subhadra Mahajan has written a story which has very niche appeal. The screenplay, also penned by Subhadra Mahajan, is not too engaging. Even the emotional quotient is below the mark. Therefore, the drama fails to involve the viewers. Subhadra Mahajan’s dialogues are ordinary.

Dheera Johnson does a fair job as Nia. Thakri Devi is so-so as Bhemi. Kanav Thakur is average in the role of Sunny. Ganga Ram lends ordinary support as the shepherd. Rajesh Kumar is okay as Raju. Shaurya Bastola passes muster as Rudra. Tarini Sud is just about passable as Veda. Dr. Bishan Dass Shashni (as the doctor) lends routine support. Yuki (the cat) is alright.

Subhadra Mahajan’s direction is weak. Quan Bay’s music is functional. Swapnil Suhar Sonawane’s camerawork is so-so. Namra Parikh’s production designing, and Deepak Thakur’s art direction hardly deserve special mention. Tinni Mitra’s editing leaves something to be desired.

On the whole, Second Chance is a flop show.

Released on 13-6-’25 at Cinepolis Andheri (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru Platoon One Distribution. Publicity & opening: very poor. …….Also released all over. Opening was dull everywhere.
