The Kerala high court has declined to stay the investigation in the sedition case filed against Lakshadweep filmmaker and activist Aisha Sultana on the basis of a complaint filed by a BJP leader in the island. Justice Ashok Menon on July 2 declined a stay after considering a petition filed by Aisha, challenging the case registered by the Kavaratti police.
While participating in a debate on a Malayalam TV news channel on 7th June, Aisha had said that the Centre had used a bio-weapon against the people of Lakshadweep. The court said, the investigation was still going on and was in its nascent stage. Investigation agencies had to be given more time, it added while asking the Lakshadweep administration to produce details of the probe conducted so far.
