‘SETTLEMENT’ REVIEW | 18 October, 2024

Vijay & 2 Star Entertainment and Manorama Pictures & Entertainment’s Settlement (UA) is a story based in a village of Jharkhand. Some touts operate in the village to usurp the property of gullible villagers. A few educated people then form a fun and entertainment-filled club for the purpose of settling matters. As the story unfolds, the true mission of the club emerges: to help such gullible villagers from the machinations of the touts.

Vijay Kumar Agrawal has written a story which offers precious little novelty. Basically, the story is about some do-gooders who come to the rescue of poor and gullible villagers. The screenplay, penned by Vijay Kumar and Dinesh Shahdeo, hardly makes entertaining sense. At the end of the day, the drama becomes one of good versus evil. Vijay Kumar Agrawal’s dialogues are ordinary.

Akash Kumar Mittal does an ordinary job. Priya Parasnath Gupta is average. Pankaj Sinha is so-so. Jitendra Wader hardly impresses. Karuna Singh passes muster. Archie is barely passable. Ranjeet Bihari, Shalini, Prateek Jayaswal, Shailendra Sharma, Amit Shrivastava, Priyanshu Raj, Harsh Prasad and Swastika Sharma lend routine support.

Dinesh Shahdeo’s direction is dull. Siddharth Roy’s music and Sona-Sneha’s lyrics are functional. The background score is not up to the mark. Pankaj Goswami’s camerawork is dull. Avinash Kumar’s art direction is below average. Sumit Sinha’s editing leaves a lot to be desired.

On the whole, Settlement is a poor show all the way.

Released on 18-10-’24 at Cinepolis Andheri (daily 1 show) and another cinema of Bombay thru 1st Film Studios LLP. Publicity & opening: weak. …….Also released all over. Opening was poor everywhere.
