SHERLYN CHOPRA MOVES HC FOR BAIL IN OBSCENE VIDEOS CASE | 20 February, 2021

Sherlyn Chopra, actress, content creator and director of two UK-based companies, on February 15 approached the Bombay high court for anticipatory bail in the FIR lodged against her by the cyber cell of Bombay police, pertaining to alleged uploading of obscene videos on free-to-view websites. The sessions court had rejected her pre-arrest bail application.

Sherlyn claimed that somebody had committed theft and uploaded the video without her permission. Her lawyer assured Justice P.D. Naik that she would cooperate with the probe. The prosecution gave the court an oral assurance that no coercive steps would be taken against her till then.

The FIR was filed on November 6 last year for an offence under IPC section 292 (sale of obscene material) along with provisions of the Information Technology Act and Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
