Popular celebrity journalist Faridoon Shahryar’s debut poetry collection, Dust Of Sadness, was launched in an online event by singer Sonu Nigam today (24th September). Dust Of Sadness is divided into two parts: ‘Innocence In Search Of Maturity’, which has poems written by Faridoon between the ages of 17 and 21, and ‘Maturity In Search Of An Escape’, which has poems written by him between the ages of 37 and 42.
Sonu Nigam read a few lines from the book and said, he was impressed. He couldn’t stop praising Faridoon, saying that the poems were so impactful that while reading them, one had to stop and ponder over what the poet was thinking while writing. He added that the poetry was not run-of-the-mill but had depth. Sonu said, Faridoon expressed like his father, Shahryar saab, but manifested words just like his mother, who was a professor of English.
The foreword of the book has been written by Dia Mirza. Apart from Dia, celebrated director Imtiaz Ali, actress Rasika Duggal, actors Manoj Bajpayee and Sharib Hashmi, and filmmaker and journalist Vinod Kapri have praised the book and shared their thoughts on Faridoon’s debut poetry collection. Faridoon has also been writing in Urdu for a few years now. He says, his next collection will most likely be in Urdu.
Dust Of Sadness, dedicated by Faridoon to his mother, has been published by Kavishala.
