SONU SOOD TO RESTORE BUILDING STATUS FROM HOTEL TO RESIDENTIAL | 28 February, 2021

Following a rap from the Bombay high court and after withdrawing his petition before the Supreme Court, Sonu Sood has agreed to restore his unauthorised six-storey Shiv Sagar building at Juhu in Bombay from a hotel to residential premises. The actor’s architects have submitted a proposal to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to restore the change of user of the Juhu building back to residential. Sonu had allegedly converted the building into a hotel without necessary permissions from the BMC.

Activist Ganesh Kusmulu, who had filed a complaint with Lokayukta against Sonu Sood, said that the police must register an FIR. The HC dismissed an appeal by the actor for interim relief against the BMC’s notice and the subsequent complaint to the police seeking an FIR against him. Sood had filed an appeal against the dismissal of his plea by the city civil court on December 19, 2020, for protection from a civic demolition notice in October 2020. The court had said, “illegality has been detected and crystallised” by a BMC officer and hence the notice was proper. Sonu Sood then moved the SC but later withdrew his petition.
