Veteran Bengali film actor Soumitra Chatterjee, who is undergoing treatment for COVID in a hospital in Calcutta, was on 9th October shifted to the intensive therapy unit (ITU) and put under oxygen support. The actor suffered breathlessness and a drop in blood pressure. He had tested positive for COVID on 5th October.
