Notable South film actress Usharani passed away on 21st June at a private hospital in Madras following kidney failure. She was 62. She had acted in over 200 films in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu and a couple of Hindi films too.
Usharani started her career as a child star in the 1960s and worked in about 30 films as a child artiste. As a grown-up, she worked in films with Sivaji Ganesan, MGR and Jayalalithaa. She acted in Tamil film Arangettam with Kamal Haasan. Among her better-known films are Aham, Ekalavyan, Bharya, Thottavadi, Angathattu, Mazhayethum Munpe, Pathram and Panchami.
