T.T.V. Dhinakaran’s AMMK and South star Vijayakanth’s DMDK have joined hands to contest the ensuing Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu. AMMK has allotted 60 seats to DMDK in the alliance.
V.K. Sasikala, close aide of former TN chief minister J. Jayalalithaa, stepped back from politics, leaving nephew Dhinakaran in the lurch. Vijayakanth’s DMDK was dumped by the ruling AIADMK after they fell out over seat-sharing talks. The AMMK and DMDK came together on 14th March in an unusual pre-poll pact.
