Sri Raghupati has turned out to be the biggest Assamese blockbuster ever. It has outshone the previous title holder, Ratnakaar, in just 21 days of its release. Ratnakaar had netted Rs. 9.50 crore in 63 days. As against that, Sri Raghupati collected Rs. 10 crore in 21 days. Taking into account the nett collections till today (June 29) i.e. for 25 days, the total will touch Rs. 11 crore!
The film, directed by Suvrat Kakoty and starring Ravi Sarma, could not open on schedule on June 2. It opened on Monday, June 5, because of a dispute between the producers of the film. The dispute was resolved, thanks to the intervention of Sri Srimanta Shekar, chairman of the Assam Film Finance Corporation Ltd.
The film was also released in Bangalore, Madras, Hyderabad, Bombay, Thane, Pune, Delhi, NOIDA, Goa, Ahmedabad, Baroda and Kochi.
Goenka Enterprises is the film’s distributor. Goenka has earlier distributed Assamese blockbusters Ramdhenu, Mission China, Kanchanjunga, Ratnakaar and Dr. Bezbarua 2 in Assam.
