The Maharashtra state government has requested the I & B ministry to re-examine the certificate issued to Marathi film Khalid Ka Shivaji and withhold its release till a decision is taken over protests by some people against its dialogues. The film was slated for release tomorrow (August 8).
The letter by the state government to the ministry states that it has received a complaint from one Nilesh Bhise, saying that certain dialogues in the film related to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj were factually incorrect and likely to hurt public sentiments. A Pune-based organisation, Hindu Mahasangh, has also submitted its objections against the film to the CBFC and the film’s producers.
Khalid Ka Shivaji is a film about a Muslim boy who learns about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj through life experiences.
