‘SUPER 30’ RECORDS A HUGE JUMP IN COLLECTIONS ON DAY 2 | 14 July, 2019

The expected has happened. Vikas Bahl, writer Sanjeev Datta and Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30 has recorded a big hike in box-office collections on the second day. While the exact figure is still awaited, the second day of the film, inspired by the life of famed mathematician Anand Kumar, seems to be upward of Rs. 18 crore. The film had started on a not-very-solid wicket but collections had consolidated themselves as the day had progressed, so that the day closed at Rs. 11.83 crore.

The second day’s figure of total net collections is awaited but initial indications are of Rs. 18 crore-plus. In other words, the increase is of 50% or thereabouts.

Even if we consider the second day’s figure as Rs. 18 crore, the total for two days would be Rs. 29.83 crore. The extremely positive word of mouth has done the trick.

The good news for the film’s mathematics or economics is that India is not in the World Cup cricket final, so people in the country may not sit glued to their television sets today as they would have had had India been in the finals. This will translate into fantastic footfalls for Super 30. Given the super reviews of Super 30, and the fact that India is not playing today, the trade expects the Sunday figure to be Rs. 20 crore-plus.

Fingers crossed for Reliance Entertainment, HRX Films, Phantom and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, the four producers of the hit film.
