The Bombay high court on July 4 granted Siddharth Pithani, former flatmate of Sushant Singh Rajput, bail in the drugs case following the actor’s death by suicide. Justice Bharati Dangre directed his release on bail on a surety of Rs. 50,000.
Pithani had contended in his bail plea that he had been framed in the case and that no recovery of any drug was made from him. He also said, he was neither in possession of any drugs nor was there anything which could suggest that he was involved in drug trafficking or financing any drug-related transaction. The court said, Pithani was “prima facie not guilty” of the charge of financial or illicit trafficking of drugs.
The Narcotics Control Bureau had arrested Siddharth Pithani in May 2021 from Hyderabad. It may be recalled that Sushant was found dead in his flat at Bandra in Bombay in June 2020.
