TELUGU FILM INDUSTRY DECIDES TO ACT: PROPOSES CAP ON TICKET PRICES | 26 July, 2022

The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) on July 25 passed a resolution to allow release of big-budget films on OTT after a minimum of eight weeks of their theatrical release. The exclusive theatrical window for small-budget films will be four weeks. These resolutions were passed because films are not doing well in Andhra and Telangana.

The issue of ticket pricing was also discussed. The TFCC has proposed the following ticket prices in Telangana:

For small-budget films, the ticket price will be Rs. 100 for single-screen cinemas in A and B class centres, and Rs. 125 for multiplexes in such centres. The respective ticket prices for medium-budget films will be Rs. 112 and 177, again for A and B class centres. In the case of big-budget films, the ticket price will be Rs. 177 and Rs. 295 in single-screen cinemas and multiplexes respectively, for A and B class centres.

For C class centres, the ticket pricing proposed is as follows: For small-budget films, Rs. 70 for single-screen cinemas; Rs. 125 for multiplexes. For medium-budget films, they are Rs. 100 and Rs. 177 for single-screen cinemas and multiplexes respectively. The ticket prices for big-budget films will be Rs. 150 in single-screen cinemas, and Rs. 295 in multiplexes.

Since there is already a cap on ticket pricing imposed by the Andhra Pradesh government for cinemas in that state, no ticket rates were proposed for cinemas in that state.
