‘THE LEGACY OF JINESHWAR’ REVIEW | 19 April, 2024

Mahaveer Talkies and Shri Khartargachha Sahastrabdi Mahotsav Samiti’s The Legacy Of Jineshwar is about the teachings of Lord Mahavir. The legacy of Lord Adinath and Bhagwan Mahavir is carried forward by Vardhman Suri who sacrificed materialism to tread the path of abstinence. He took deeksha and preached about self-control and deep commitment.

The story is based in Samvat year 1080. Jain Muni Acharya Vardhman Suri teams up with his two ascetic disciples, Jineshwar Suri and Buddhisagar, to teach the path of righteousness to people.

Abhishek Maloo has written a story which would not appeal much to film buffs. The writing is more like it is for a documentary. Prashant Beybaar’s screenplay is dull and boring. The common man may not be too interested in knowing so many details about the Jain religion. The devout Jains may like the proceedings but they probably would know most of what is conveyed through the drama. Prashant Beybaar’s dialogues are ordinary.

Manish Bishla is average. Surendra Pal acts well. Sharad Gore is fair. Shubham Vyas lends decent support. Swayam Joshi is alright. Tushar Phulke lends routine support. Anil Lalwani is so-so. Others pass muster.

Pradeep P. Jadhav and Vivek Iyer’s direction does not cater to the usual film buffs as their narrative style fails to engage the audience completely. Vivian Richard and Vipin Patwa’s music is commonplace. Prashant Beybaar’s lyrics go well with the mood of the film. Swapnil Choudhari’s background music leaves something to be desired. Amit Malaviya’s cinematography is okay. Jignesh Yashwant Rathod’s production designing is adequate. Vijay Panchal’s editing leaves a lot to be desired.

On the whole, The Legacy Of Jineshwar will go largely unnoticed as it is meant for a niche audience.

Released on 19-4-’24 at Metro Inox (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru Filmastra Studios. Publicity & opening: very weak. …….Also released all over. Opening was dull everywhere.
