Rudraksh Telefilms’ The Purvanchal Files (UA) is the story of good versus evil.
DSP Ritesh Pandey (R. Siddharth) comes to Ghazipur city of Purvanchal in East Uttar Pradesh. The city resonates with crime and corruption. MLA Abhisar Rana (Govind Namdeo) and his son (Heramb Tripathi) literally exploit the people. Pandey vows to cleanse the city. Does he succeed?
Rajendra Tripathi has penned a routine story of an honest police officer taking on the corrupt politician. His screenplay is ordinary as it mostly treads the beaten path. Nissar Akhtar’s dialogues are routine.
R. Siddharth is alright as DSP Ritesh Pandey. Shivani Thakur does a fair job as reporter Ragini. Govind Namdeo is effective as MLA Abhisar Rana. Zarina Wahab lends good support as Ritesh Pandey’s mother. Mukesh Tiwari makes his presence felt in the role of police inspector Vikram Rathod. Heramb Tripathi is alright as MLA Abhisar Rana’s son. Hemant Pandey is okay as constable Dayashankar Pandey. Amita Nangia provides average support as Abhisar Rana’s wife. Others pass muster.
Swarup Ghosh’s direction is quite nice. Somen Sarkar Kutty’s music and background music are alright. Lyrics (Swagata and Neetu Pandey Kranti) are ordinary. Shafi Shaikh and Pappu Mallu’s choreography is functional. Jatan Prajapati’s cinematography is good. Pradip Khadka’s action and stunt scenes afford thrill to the viewers. Shravan Jaiswal’s sets are alright. Tapos Ghosh’s editing is fair.
On the whole, The Purvanchal Files is a decently made film but it will not be able to do much at the turnstiles because of lack of face value and poor marketing.
Released on 22-9-’23 at Glamour (daily 2 shows) and other cinemas of Bombay thru Reliance Entertainment. Publicity: poor. Opening: weak. …….Also released all over. Opening was poor everywhere.
