Abhishek Agarwal Arts’ Tiger Nageswara Rao (dubbed from the Telugu film of the same name; UA) is an actin film about a small-time thief who becomes such a big robber that he steals 300 kgs. of gold in one shot.
Nageswara Rao (Ravi Teja) is a petty thief who works for Yelamanda (Hareesh Peradi). One day, he decides to oppose Yelamanda. In retaliation, Yelamanda gets him arrested and imprisoned for stealing 300 kgs. of gold. Nageswara Rao, now known as Tiger Nageswara Rao for his daredevilry, runs away from jail. How he eliminates Yelamanda and an evil police officer, Mouli (Jishu Sengupta), forms the latter part of the drama.
Vamsee has written a routine story of a golden-hearted robber and the evil forces out to ruin him. His screenplay relies on the tried and tested elements and rarely, if ever, offers novelty. Yes, the pace of the drama is fast. Besides, even the routine screenplay does have some masala for the masses. Dialogues are alright.
Ravi Teja does a fine job in the title role. Gayatri Bharadwaj performs well in a brief role as Nageswara Rao’s wife, Mani. Hareesh Peradi is impactful as Yelamanda. Sudev Nair lends able support as Yelamanda’s brother, Kasi. Anupam Kher makes his presence felt in the role of IB officer Raghavendra Rajput. Nupur Sanon has her moments in a brief role as Sara. Jishu Sengupta leaves a mark as police officer Mouli. Nassar lends fine support as Gajjala Prasad. Anukreethy Vas is alright as a call girl. Renu Desai is adequate in the role of Hemalatha Lavanam. Murali Sharma is nice as DSP Vishwanath Sastry. Pradeep Rawat and Aadukalam Naren provide decent support.
Vamsee’s direction is good. G.V. Prakash Kumar’s music is alright. Lyrics are so-so. Song picturisations (by Prem Rakshith, Sekhar VJ and Pony Verma) are quite nice. Background music is ordinary. R. Madhie’s camerawork is of a good standard. Action and stunt scenes (by Ram, Lakshman, Peter Hein, Joshuva, Venkat, Rahul and Nikhil) will be liked by the masses mainly. Avinash Kolla’s production designing is appropriate. Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao’s editing is sharp but it must be added that the film is too lengthy. Dubbing is proper.
On the whole, Tiger Nageswara Rao is a well-made film but its chances at the Hindi box-office are bleak because of the routine subject and Telugu film actors.
Released on 20-10-’23 at Gossip (daily 2 shows) and other cinemas of Bombay thru Reliance Entertainment. Publicity & opening: dull. …….Also released all over. Opening was weak everywhere.
