Zee Studios and Athaansh Communications’ Timepass 3 (Marathi; UA) is the third in the Timepass series of films. Dagadu (Prathamesh Parab) falls in love with his college friend, Palvi (Hruta Durgule). Like Dagadu, Palvi is also a ruffian. Not only does Dagadu turn over a new leaf but he also asks Palvi to be more lady-like. However, there comes a stage when Palvi walks out on Dagadu because she sees him behaving like a ruffian. It may be mentioned here that Palvi was unaware of Dagadu’s boorish ways. What happens thereafter?
Ravi Jadhav’s story is inconclusive, and that’s its biggest minus point. The screenplay, written by Priyadarshan Jadhav and Ravi Jadhav, is better than the story because it has comedy, a bit of emotions and some romance too. However, the screenplay is devoid of novelty. The break-up of Dagadu and Palvi is not very convincing — and that is another minus point of the screenplay. Priyadarshan Jadhav’s dialogues are good, several of which tickle the funny bone because they are double-meaning.
Prathamesh Parab does a fair job as Dagadu. Hruta Durgule shines in the role of Palvi. Sanjay Narvekar is entertaining as Palvi’s father, Dinkar Patil. Bhau Kadam does not have too many comic scenes; he is alright as Dagadu’s father. Vaibhav Mangale does quite well as teacher Madhav Lele. Manmeet Pem (as Balbharti), Omkar Raut (as Kombda), Anvita Phaltankar (as Chanda), Jayesh Chavan (as Malaria) and Aarti Wadagbalkar (as Dagadu’s sister, Manda) lend nice support.
Ravi Jadhav’s direction is fair. But a more substantive script would’ve helped. Amitraj’s music and Kshitij Patwardhan’s lyrics are quite nice, but absence of hit music is sorely felt. Song picturisations (by Rahul Thombre and Sanjeev Howladar) are decent. Harsh, Karan and Aditya’s (Trineeti Bros.) background music is okay. Lawrence Alex D’cunha’s camerawork is up to the mark. Santosh Suresh Phutane’s art direction is functional. Jayant Jathar’s editing leaves something to be desired.
On the whole, Timepass 3 is too ordinary to make a mark at the ticket windows.
Released on 29-7-’22 at Plaza (daily 2 shows) and other cinemas of Bombay by Zee Studios. Publicity: so-so. Opening: dull.
