TOLLYWOOD WOMEN SEEK INTIMACY DIRECTOR, ROUND-THE-CLOCK HELPLINE | 28 August, 2024

More than a hundred female film personalities in Bengal on August 27 demanded a statutory provision for hiring professional intimacy directors and choreographers to help actors shoot intimate scenes. They also asked for a 24×7 helpline for survivors of sexual harassment, among others.

Presidents of the Eastern India Motion Pictures Association (EIMPA), West Bengal Motion Picture Artists Forum, and Federation of Cine Workers and Technicians of Eastern India wrote to the Tele Academy chairman, asking if any statutory framework had been instituted for workers in the TV, web series and film industries of West Bengal in accordance with the POSH Act.

Regerring to the Hema Committee report of the Malayalam film industry, the letter states, “Hema panel’s findings indicate the extent and depth of sexual abuse in the entertainment industry in India. We must say, ours is no exception.”
