Television actor Pearl V. Puri was arrested by the Valiv (Vasai, Bombay) police on 4th June in connection with a case filed against him in 2019. Pearl has been accused of molesting a five-year-old girl two years back and hence he was booked under the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Indian Penal Code. He was sent to 14 days’ judicial custody on 5th. The girl’s father had filed the complaint in 2019 but the police arrested Pearl two days back after initial investigations.
The little girl’s mother (who is a television actress and who was Pearl’s co-star when the alleged incident took place) has claimed that the father had filed a false case against Pearl as he wanted to prove that the mother was not capable of looking after the child. A lot of industry people, including producer Ekta Kapoor and stars who’ve worked with Pearl, have come out in his support in the case.
