Television actress Preity Talreja has filed a case of domestic violence against her husband, Abhijit Petkar. She has alleged that he physically abused her and also tried to force her to convert to Islam. The issue about conversion was not mentioned in her written complaint. She added that although he had not changed his name, he had converted to Islam. Petkar told the police that he had not converted although he had faith in both, Hinduism and Islam. The police said that their preliminary investigation had revealed that Abhijit was a Hindu and he had not converted.
Petkar has been booked under IPC sections for cruelty and criminal intimidation.
