U.P. CINEMAS TO REOPEN FROM JULY 5 | 2 July, 2021

Close on the heels of the meeting of cinema owners of Uttar Pradesh with chief minister Yogi Adityanath comes the news that the latter has allowed cinemas in the state to reopen from 5th July. A delegation of cinema owners had called on the CM on 1st July and pleaded for reliefs and an early reopening of cinemas. Just a day later, the U.P. government has announced that cinemas in the state can reopen from 5th July. Since there is no mention of capacity at which the reopened cinemas can function, it is presumed that they can operate at full capacity. However, it has been clarified that cinemas and multiplexes will remain shut on Saturdays and Sundays, just like malls will.
