UK PRODUCTION HOUSE REP ARRESTED IN PORN FILM RACKET | 11 February, 2021

The Bombay city crime branch on 8th February arrested Umesh Kamat, a representative of UK-based production company Kenrin, in the porn film production racket. He is the seventh person to be arrested in the case. Actress and model Gehana Vasisth was arrested on 7th for allegedly shooting and uploading pornographic videos on her website. Before that, on 4th February, the crime branch’s property cell had raided Green Park bungalow at Madh Island and arrested five persons (the producer-director, cameraman, graphic designer, actor and an assistant) in the case.

Police officials said, Kamat is accused of uploading at least seven or eight porn videos shot by Gehana, on social media app Hotshots. Gehana reportedly told the police that she had sold seven to eight movies to Kamat who, in turn, sent these to the UK production house which then uploaded them on Hotshots. Gehana Vasisth’s lawyer has denied the charges and said, she made only erotic movies.

Meanwhile, the police have summoned three more in-house production representatives for questioning in the case. According to the police, they have also stumbled upon the involvement of some more models, less popular actresses and a few production houses which had edited and uploaded the porn films shot by the gang, on mobile apps and various websites. According to the police, the gang would lure young women looking for a break in films, through ads, and then compel them to engage in obscene acts for their films. The rescued women were sent to rehabilitation centres.
