The legal head of Ullu Digital, Heena Jabir Baig, was arrested last week by the cyber crime branch of the police in Bombay. She was taken to Lucknow, presented in court and then sent to jail. She had blackmailed the CEO and the executive producer of the company and extorted Rs. 15 lakh under a false identity. She tried to extort another Rs. 40 lakh when her bluff was called out. Heena was blackmailing her boss in connivance with her fiancé, Ahman Rehman, who lives in Roorkee (Uttarakhand).
Heena had written an email to Ullu’s CEO, Vibhu Agarwal, and executive producer, Shobhit Singh, stating that a web series on the digital platform had obscene content and that she could have them caught in legalities. She then ‘settled the matter’ with the OTT platform by taking Rs. 15 lakh from it. Heena tried her luck once again but before she proved lucky, the cyber crime tracked the computer from which the emails were being sent to the Bombay office of Ullu Digital. For, before that, on June 10, Shobhit had filed a complaint about the extortion of Rs. 15 lakh with the cyber crime police.
