Ashmeen Films’ Uparwala & Sons is the story of a disillusioned young man from a small town. He decides to fool people by presenting his son as a reincarnation of God. A societal satire, it traces the journey of a common man till he discovers himself.
Kunjan Verma has written such a dull story that it’s a wonder anyone thought of making a film based on it. His screenplay is ordinary and predictable, making the drama anything but enjoyable. Most of the scenes are so routine that they fail to engage the audience. Kunjan Verma’s dialogues are fair.
Anvayaksh does an average job as Ravi Sharma. Prerna Rawat is so-so as Anju Sharma. Malti Verma lends ordinary support as Ammaji. Akshay Panwar Nambardar is natural as Jugal Kishore Sharma. Hitarth Oberoi passes muster as Teerthnath Sharma. Vidhyanshi Verma is so-so as Buniya. Sarita Chaturvedi is average as Buniya’s mother. Ravi Shankar is not impressive in the role of Surender. Hanun Bawra is barely passable as Narender. Lakshay Chawla lends routine support as Sudhir Kumar. Ashish Gautam provides dull support as Kaluram. Others do as required.
Kunjan Verma’s direction is barely functional. His editing also leaves something to be desired. Music (Viqsit) is dull. Lyrics (Kunjan Verma) are ordinary. Devendra Kumar Singh’s camerawork passes muster. Sunny Prajapati’s art direction hardly deserves separate mention.
On the whole, Uparwala & Sons is such a dull fare that it will go largely unnoticed.
