‘WAR’ TO JOIN 200-CRORE CLUB BEFORE FIRST WEEK ENDS | 7 October, 2019

At the rate at which Siddharth Anand’s War is going at the box-office, the film should join the Rs. 200-crore club even before the first week ends. The film has netted Rs. 166.25 crore in its first 5-day weekend. The collections were super-strong today (Monday, October 7) also, despite it being a working day.

The break-up of collections of Aditya Chopra’s production venture:

Wednesday (day 1): Hindi version Rs. 51.60 crore; Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions Rs. 1.75 crore.
Thursday (day 2): Hindi version Rs. 23.10 crore; Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions Rs. 1.25 crore.
Friday (day 3): Hindi version Rs. 21.30 crore; Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions Rs. 1.15 crore.
Saturday (day 4): Hindi version Rs. 27.60 crore; Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions Rs. 1.10 crore.
Sunday (day 5): Hindi version Rs. 36.10 crore: Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions Rs. 1.30 crore.
In other words, the film’s original Hindi version netted Rs. 159.70 crore in the first weekend while the two dubbed versions together netted Rs. 6.55 crore in the same period. Therefore, its net total collection for all the three versions put together was Rs. 166.25 crore. This makes it the biggest weekend for any Hindi film in 2019 so far.

Looking at the above, it is anybody’s guess that the film will easily gain entry into the Rs. 200-crore club, that too, in a matter of two or three days but definitely before the nine-day first week ends.

Overseas too, the film has been performing extremely well at the turnstiles. The Overseas gross collections in the first weekend totalled $7.04 million (an equivalent of Rs. 50 crore)! The break-up of the gross collections from the various territories abroad is as follows:
USA-CANADA: $2.113 million
UAE-GCC: $2.710 million
UK: $0.432 million
Rest of the world (ROW): $1.785 million.
The Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff starrer has, therefore, seen the biggest opening weekend of the year so far as no other film has grossed more than this film’s $7.04 million. Needless to add, no other Hrithik or Tiger starrer has seen such fabulous collections in the first weekend.
