‘YERE YERE PAUSA’ (MARATHI) REVIEW | 17 June, 2022

S Cube Films India LLP and Butterfly Film’s Yere Yere Pausa (Marathi) is the story of a village staring at drought. To make matters worse, Hindu-Muslim riots break out in the village, because of which there is a lot of tension. However, five kids and their teenaged friend come to the rescue of the elders in their village by drawing water from the lake. This not only solves the water problem in the village but also diffuses the tension between the warring communities.

Bhushan Dalvi’s story is average and is meant more for the festival circuit as it addresses the water problem and also tackles the topic of communal harmony. Bhushan Dalvi and Shafaq Khan’s screenplay is so-so. The duo tries to pack in doses of comedy, romance and emotions but none of them have much of an impact. Abhishek Kargutkar and Vinod Jadhav’s dialogues are appealing.

Master Aarya Adhav is very good as Salman. Master Vinayak Potdar is alright as Raghu. Vaibhav Jeughale-Patil is okay as the teenaged Anand. Master Hrishikesh Karale is fair as Pavtya. Master Nakul Chaudhary does an average job as Namya. Baby Vaishnavi Ranmale is alright as Roopa. Master Utkarsh Karale lends decent support as Chendya. Milind Shinde is ordinary as Salman’s father, Mohammad. Chhaya Kadam provides nice support as Salman’s mother. Sandesh Jadhav has his moments as Namya’s father and Anand’s uncle, Gajanan. Prajakta Wadye is so-so as Namya’s mother and Anand’s aunt, Vanita. Pradeep Navale (as Pandurang), Achala Panchal (as Aaji), Chinmayee Salvi (as Anjali) and Pradnya Gopale (as Raghu’s mother) lend ordinary support.

Shafaq Khan’s direction will appeal more to the class audience. Music (Sushant Pawar and Kishor Pawar) is alright but the absence of hit songs is felt. Lyrics (Amol Powle and Sushant Pawar) are alright. Sushant Pawar’s background music is quite impactful. Yogesh M. Koli’s camerawork is nice. Yogesh M. Ingale’s sets are fair. Chandan Arora’s editing is sharp.

On the whole, Yere Yere Pausa is meant more for the classes than the masses. Besides, since it lacks face value, it will struggle to make a mark at the box-office.
