Bombay exhibitor and post-production studio owner Yusuf Lakdawala, who was lodged in Arthur Road jail in Bombay, died today (9th September) at JJ Hospital. He was 76. He was transferred to the jail hospital on 6th September and taken to JJ Hospital on 8th after his condition deteriorated. He had been suffering from cancer.
Lakdawala, who was also a builder, was in judicial custody on charges of conspiracy, forgery and land-grabbing. He was being probed by the Enforcement Directorate and the Economic Offences Wing of the Bombay police.
Yusuf Lakdawala was the owner of Sun City cinema at Vile Parle and Roxy cinema at Charni Road, both in Bombay.
