Actor Pradeep Rawat, who played important roles in films like Lagaan and Ghajini, breathed his last today (4th August). Although there is no official confirmation from the actor’s family, actor Yashpal Sharma, who shared screen space with Rawat’s Deva in Lagaan, shared the news of his passing on social media.
Pradeep Rawat had been suffering from blood cancer.
Rawat, who worked in films for almost four decades, came into the limelight when he played Ashwatthama in B.R. Chopra’s landmark television serial, Mahabharat (1988). He went on to star in films like Agneepath, Sarfarosh and the Tamil original of Ghajini. He had also acted in films made in South Indian languages including in S.S. Rajamouli’s Telugu film, Sye (2024). He was known for his versatility. People who knew him and had worked with him speak of his noble-heartedness.
