Actress Shikha Malhotra, who was seen in Kanchli – Life In A Slough and Shah Rukh Khan starrer Fan, offered her services as a nurse as soon as the Prime Minister announced a lockdown in India to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Shikha is a nurse by qualification but an actress by profession. She volunteered to be a nurse on duty when the epidemic broke out in the country, and visited three to four hospitals in Bombay, armed with her nursing degree from Delhi’s Vardhaman Mahavir Medical College & Safdarjung Hospital. She was finally accepted as a volunteer at an isolation ward for coronavirus patients, by the medical superintendent who, incidentally, was surprised at Shikha’s enthusiasm when even doctors are fearful of treating COVID-19 patients.
