Filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan on 25th July gave a tit-for-tat reply to BJP spokesman B. Gopalakrishnan’s statement that he should go to the moon if he interpreted ‘Jai Shri Ram’ as a war cry. The film director said, he would oblige if a ticket was arranged for him.
The BJP spokesperson hit back at Adoor for signing a letter addressed by many to PM Narendra Modi. The letter sought action on mob lynching. B. Gopalakrishnan said, “Adoor should better go to Moon or some other planet. During the holy Ramayana month, it would be almost impossible to live without ‘Jai Shri Ram’ chanting falling into your ears…”
The signatories to the letter include filmmakers Aparna Sen, Shyam Benegal, Mani Ratnam and actors Kaushik Sen and Revathy.
