ART DIRECTOR FOUND DEAD | 13 August, 2019

Krishnendu Chowdhury, the art director who had gone missing from Madh in Bombay on 7th August, was found dead in a nullah in Virar, a distant Bombay suburb, on 9th. The 37-year-old Krishnendu had gone to Madh Island to meet a vendor, Mohammad Furqan, around 7 p.m. He was with the vendor for half an hour during which time he received some phone calls including one from a woman. He last spoke to his employee at around 9.15 p.m. to ask if all the staffers had left his office which he ran from his residence at Goregaon in Bombay. However, his cell phone was switched off when the employee called an hour later. He was last active on WhatsApp at 9.16 p.m.

The body, found at around 2.30 p.m. on 9th, was wrapped in a bedsheet and had a stab wound on the neck and two stab wounds on the abdomen. The Virar police registered a case of murder and causing disappearance of evidence. Reportedly, Krishnendu had to recover payments from a few people and was heard fighting with some persons over the telephone at times.
