CBFC MUTES ‘BALOCH’ FROM ‘DHURANDHAR’ DIALOGUE | 2 January, 2025

The word ‘Baloch’ has been muted in the dialogues of Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar. As per guidelines of the Central Board of Film Certification, visuals or words contemptuous of racial, religious or other groups are not permitted. Following objections, the CBFC asked the producers to change or mute the dialogues where the word has been used.

The ministry of information and broadcasting later clarified that the changes were not done at its behest. It said, it had not issued any directions for the muting of the word ‘Baloch’. “No directions were issued by the ministry in this matter,” said a release from the I & B ministry. Under Rule 31 of the Rules of the amended Cinematograph Act, the producers themselves proposed changes to the CBFC, and they were permitted as part of routine procedure.
