The wedding celebrations of producer Boney Kapoor’s daughter, Anshula, with Rohan Thakkar, were spread over three days and were grand, to say the least. The turnout was phenomenal because celebrities not just from the film industry but from all walks of life came to bless the newly-weds. Besides actors, producers, directors, writers, singers, music directors and distributors, there were politicians, industrialists, builders and many more.
The goodwill Boney Kapoor enjoys was evident on each of the three days of celebrations.
Frankly, Boney Kapoor’s extended family itself has so many stars that the wedding reception — just like the marriage ceremony on 6th and the mehndi and chooda ceremonies on 5th — sparkled like few parties do, even before the guests started to arrive.
The mehndi and chooda ceremonies on 5th July at Boney’s residence were a family affair, but when it’s Boney Kapoor, the family affair also becomes a larger-than-life one. The two ceremonies on 5th were hosted by Jahnvi and Khushi Kapoor. Neetu Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar, Padmini Kolhapure and politician Supriya Sule added much colour to the celebrations.
Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was one of the first to arrive at the marriage ceremony on 6th July at Hotel Taj Lands End. The wedding ceremony also saw stars like Aamir Khan, Hema Malini, Madhuri Dixit, Anupam Kher, Kirron Kher, Poonam Dhillon and others rub shoulders with politicians Sushilkumar Shinde and Praful Patel as also media baron Subhash Chandra.
The grand celebrations were rounded off by a wedding reception and cocktail party on 7th at Taj Lands End. The stream of visitors kept flowing till midnight even as the merry-making stretched beyond that. As if the glamour and glitter provided by the likes of Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt weren’t enough, the musical extravaganza by Himesh Reshammiya enlivened the evening even more. Reshammiya’s racy numbers had guests dancing like there was going to be no tomorrow. One of the highlight dances was that by Ranveer Singh and Anshula’s brother, Arjun Kapoor, on their very own Dil mein baji ghantiyan song from Gunday.
There were industrialists like Pradeep Dhoot, TV host Rajat Sharma, and stars like Rekha, Akshaye Khanna, Jackie Shroff, Bobby Deol, Rakul Preet Singh, Jackky Bhagnani, Chunkey Panday, Bhumi Pednekar, Gulshan Grover, Aditya Roy Kapur and others who made the reception an event to be envied. Among the producers, directors and distributors who marked their presence were Manmohan Shetty, Rajkumar Santoshi, Amit Ravindernath Sharma, Pranab Kapadia, Rumy Jafri, Rikku Rakesh Nath, Narendra Hirawat, Shreyans Hirawat, Namit Malhotra, Tutu Sharma, Luv Ranjan, and many more. Builders Mohit Kamboj and Raju Wabhi also came to bless the newly-weds.
Boney Kapoor received a congratulatory letter from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and another from Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath. Amitabh Bachchan also penned a letter conveying blessings from the entire Bachchan family.
Boney Kapoor as well as the entire Kapoor khandaan played the perfect hosts on all the three days.
