The head of the railways Passenger Service Committee (PSC) has instructed book stalls at stations not to sell Chetan Bhagat’s Half Girlfriend. The decision to ‘ban’ sale of this and another book written by Khushwant Singh was taken as the covers were found objectionable by PSC chairman Ramesh Chandra Ratn.
According to Ratn, railway bye-laws empower him to prevent sale of books with vulgar content.
