Poonam Dhillon and Padmini Kolhapure seem to have landed themselves in another controversy. CINTAA president Poonam Dhillon and vice president Padmini Kolhapure yesterday (September 10) took many records of the Association out of the office and kept the same elsewhere. Upasna Singh and other committee members, who resigned last month from the executive committee of the CINTAA, reached the office and tried to dissuade them from smuggling out the Association’s records and papers. They even complained to the police station but drew a blank.
Dhillon and Kolhapure had got a tempo to CINTAA to transport the records to what they felt was a “safer place”.
It may be mentioned here that following the resignation of eight elected members and three co-opted members of the executive committee in August, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) announced September 12 as the date for fresh elections of CINTAA. Poonam and Padmini tried to get a stay order on the elections, but the court did not grant them any stay. Following their defeat in court, the two office-bearers took the extreme step of taking away the Association records out of the office.
Going by the tension among the two factions in the CINTAA, the elections tomorrow are expected to be full of fireworks.
