COPS INVOKE MCOCA IN ROHIT SHETTY FIRING CASE | 12 February, 2026

The Bombay city crime branch investigating the firing on producer-director Rohit Shetty’s house has invoked Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in the case and told the special court that the arrested accused wanted to create terror in the city. The court remanded the five accused in custody until February 17, saying that the firing was likely just the “tip of the iceberg” of the organised crime activities. The court also held that considering the involvement of an organised crime syndicate, further investigation was indispensable and that the police needed to be given sufficient time to dig out the truth.

The five accused are Aditya Gayaki, Siddharth Yenpure, Samarth Pomaji, Swapnil Sakat and Asaram Fasale, who are linked to gangster Shubham Lonkar who himself is on the run.
