A sessions court in Bombay has held that it disbelieved the story of rape and extortion by television actor and singer Karan Oberoi, as claimed by a 34-year-old astrologer. The court on 21st May said, it could not believe that Karan had spiked the astrologer-friend’s drink and raped her because she is said to have left for her house soon after the incident. The story in respect of extortion under intimidation to make the video of their intercourse go viral was also not bought by the court as the informant continued to give gifts to Karan and his family members from time to time. The court also relied on the WhatsApp messages exchanged between Oberoi and the girl, showing their continued cordial relationship. The court remarked that there was no message to prove that Karan had promised to marry her.
