The court granted permission to exhibitors to hike ticket prices for Telugu film Maharshi which opened on 9th May in Telangana. The government had permitted a fifth show but not increase in admission rates. However, some exhibitors approached the court to seek permission for a hike in ticket prices. The court gave its consent to the increase.
Although new in Telangana, cinemas in Andhra Pradesh sell tickets of big films at inflated rates on the opening day. In Andhra, the fifth show begins at 5 a.m. but because this is a new thing for Telangana, exhibitors are holding the fifth show at 8 a.m.
