DILJIT DOSANJH CANCELS U.S. SHOW AFTER PROTESTS | 13 September, 2019

Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh, who was to perform in Houston on 21st September, has called off his show following objections from the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). The FWICE diktat to Dosanjh was issued because the show is promoted by a Pakistani national, Rehan Siddiqui.

Bollywood celebrities have become careful about associating with Pakistanis following the recent Pulwama attack and its aftermath. Pakistan has banned Indian films.

The FWICE had even requested the external affairs ministry to cancel Diljit Dosanjh and his troupe’s visa.

Before this, Salman Khan and Mika Singh were also scheduled to perform in different cities of the USA last month for the same promoter. They too cancelled their shows.

It may be recalled that Mika Singh got a lot of flak for performing at the wedding of the daughter of erstwhile president of Pakistan, Pervez Musharraf’s cousin recently. He was banned by the FWICE but the ban was lifted after he apologised.
