The Election Commission has issued Sunny Deol, the elected MP from GurÂdaspur constituency in the general elections, a notice for violating the model code of conduct while he was still campaigning. Sunny was a BJP candidate when he was served the notice for allegedly violating the MCC on 17th May by holding a public meeting in Pathankot at around 9.30 p.m. though campaigning was to be stopped at 6 p.m. as per the MCC. The notice also said that Sunny had used a loud speaker for the meeting he addressed, with more than 200 people listening. Use of the loudspeaker was in violation of section 144 of CrPC and the MCC. Sunny Deol had also allegedly violated the stanÂdard operating procedure (last 48 hours).
