Police carried out searches on the morning of October 23 after mayor Rita Tawde’s office received an email threatening attacks in Bombay at, among other places, Amitabh Bachchan’s Juhu homes between October 31 and November 27, and singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh’s concert scheduled in the city for November 27 at Mahalaxmi Racecourse. The email mentioned that there would be a suicide attack at the concert.
Security was beefed up at Bachchan’s bungalows at Juhu, especially for Saturdays and Sundays, when the superstar meets his fans by waving out to them from his balcony.
