An event manager from Juhu, Bombay was arrested recently for impersonating a policeman and raiding his producer-friend’s home with two accomplices, and extorting Rs. 70,000 from him. The 23-year old event manager, Parth Motirmani, along with two others allegedly posed as policemen and entered the home of producer Varun Mohta of Asylum Films on 8th June, 2019. The ‘policemen’ allegedly showed identity cards and said, they had information about drug dealings. They allegedly found bottles containing narcotic substances, and demanded Rs. 5 lakh from Varun to evade arrest. Varun Mohta had only Rs. 50,000 cash on hand and he was made to withdraw Rs. 20,000 from the ATM. The trio took away the Rs. 70,000.
Mohta approached the police when he realised that they were imposters. Parth was the third person to be arrested in the case.
