A fire broke out on the set of Coolie No. 1 at Filmistan Studios at 1 a.m. on 11th September. Around 15-20 people were working on the set when the fire broke out as a studio light became so hot that it caused a curtain to catch fire. Nobody was injured in the fire which is estimated to have destroyed about 20-25 per cent of the set.
The fire brigade rushed to the spot and doused the flames. The job was completed at 4.15 a.m. The set was insured.
